Heavy Metal Contribution to Auto-Immune and other Diseases.

People  are often diagnosed as having various auto-immune diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriasis, and Multiple Schlerosis (MS) but rarely are causes looked for. Patients get the message that there is very little they can do about their condition, except take medication.

Not many doctors, or patients stop to consider that their health issues may be partially or even totally, caused by heavy metal toxicity in the body. And the good news is: This you CAN do something about.

Our Exposure to Mercury through Amalgam Dental Fillings

Many people may be suffering from mercury toxicity from amalgam dental (black or silver) fillings. Amalgam fillings  are still made from approximately 50% mercury. After mercury contaminated fish, they are the most common mercury contaminants that people are exposed to.

What mercury does to us

Elemental and methylmercury are toxic to the central and peripheral nervous systems. The inhalation of mercury vapour can produce harmful effects on the nervous, digestive and immune systems, lungs and kidneys, and may be fatal” says the World Health Organisation on Mar 31, 2017 [1] The WHO considers mercury oneof the top ten chemicals of major public health concern. It is so toxic, that the WHO has not established ANY level of mercury as ‘safe’ for exposure to humans.[1]

Countries That Have Banned Amalagam Fillings

Norway was the first to ban amalgam fillings due to mercury. As of 2011 Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Germany had banned or restricted the use of amalagam fillings. [2]

Last year in mid 2018 the Irish HSE said it was phasing out the use of amalgam in children and in pregnant mothers dentistry. But if its toxic to them, and to the babies, why is it not considered toxic for everyone? And why is Ireland so slow to catch up to best practice?

How  Mercury Affects Us

The symptoms of mercury poisoning are no fun and are highly risky to our organs including our brain. Mercury and other heavy metal toxicity is now associated with Alzheimers, Parkinsons disease, respiratory diseases, unknown aches and pains, organ leaky gut and digestive issues, and much much more.

According to the ‘International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology’ (IAOMT) All silver-colored fillings are dental amalgam fillings, and each of these fillings is approximately 50% mercury

How Mercury Finds its Way In to Our Body

Mercury vapor is continuously emitted from dental amalgam fillings, and much of this mercury is absorbed and retained in the body.   The output of mercury can be intensified by the number of fillings and other activities, such as chewing, teeth-grinding, and the consumption of hot liquids.  Mercury is also known to be released during the placement, replacement, and removal of dental amalgam fillings.[3]

Symptoms of Mercury Poisoning by International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAMOMT)

The IAOMT list symptoms of mercury toxicity as: cardiovascular problems, loss of appetite, general weakness, cognitive/neurological impairment, memory loss, dermatological condtions (e.g. excema, psoriasis), thyroid issues, hormonal disruption, irritability, fatigue, headaches, hearing loss, immune system impairment, insomnia, twitching, metallic taste in mouth, gingivitis, nervousness, mood swings, anger, depression, renal (kidney) problems, respiratory problems, social withdrawal and psychological issues. [3]

Mercury Poisoning Symptoms Mistaken for  Multiple Schlerosis

Maria Indermuhle had some dental work done in Scotland. She started to get symptoms that her doctor diagnosed as MS. Maria researched her symptoms and found they matched those of mercury poisoning. She got tested in Switzerland and found her body was indeed poisoned. She removed her fillings, undertook a drastic detox programme and now she is well. She claims her fillings caused the poisoning, but NHS Scotland has not accepted liability. The Scottish Government said the amalgam dental fillings – mixture of mercury, silver, tin and copper – are safe [4]

And yet if they are so safe why does an article in The Irish Times on June 25th 2018 say that “Use of mercury-based dental fillings [are] to be phased out.” [5] Why phase them out if they are safe?

Summary

The International Academy of Oral Medicine and Toxicology (IAOMT) states The risk of illness or injury associated with the use of dental mercury presents an unreasonable, direct, and substantial danger to the health of dental patients, dental personnel, and the fetuses and children of dental patients and dental personnel.” [6] They recommend safe extraction and detoxification. So if you have any strange symptoms, consider your dental amalgams. If you can, in your country, get tested for heavy metal toxicity. Replace any dental amalgams safely with a Biodentist who protects you from further contamination. Find a specific detoxification program to rid yourself of the mercury or other toxic heavy metals in your system.

Katie Kalin is a kinesiologist in Cork Ireland. She has nothing against dentists, but hopes they stop using amalgam fillings, and learn how to extract them safely. She is currently learning how to detox people from mercury and other heavy metals.
