GPS definiton: GPS (Global Positioning System) is a space-based navigation system that provides location and time information in all weather conditions anywhere, on or near the earth where there is an unobstructed line-of-sight to four or more GPS satellites.
Many of us use a GPS in our daily lives to find places, people or things and direct our routes to them. But did you know that you can also engage your own internal GPS? When you position yourself within range of your own guidance system it will take you to where you need to go for any purpose or goal. Once you realise you have this in-built GPS system, you can use it on a daily basis. So you may wonder, how do you do this?
1. Get clear on how you want to feel.
How do you want to feel? Is it loving, kind, compassionate, excited, enthusiastic, enthralled, motivated, creative, energetic, abundant? Or maybe you haven’t thought about it much. It doesn’t really matter if you don’t care. But if you don’t have any focus, or reset button, your energy gets tied up in responding to how you feel in any given moment. If you are not focused on what you desire, you can’t put your GPS on and seek further direction. When you focus on what you desire, it doesn’t mean ‘wanting’ it. It means having your focus firmly centred in all the evidence that ‘you ARE that’ already (at least in part). From here your inner GPS aligns with those desires to provide the direction you need to magnify those feelings, or to please yourself further. Remember that all we need challenges to overcome, so that we grow. So trust that your GPS knows what you want, once you clarify your focus.
2. Our desires program our GPS.
If you don’t use your desires to focus yourself, your internal GPS doesn’t know where you want to go. Therefore you experience all sorts of blocks and find it difficult to get started in the direction of anything. To engage your GPS, first decide how you want to feel and then focus on these feelings even when are they aren’t naturally occurring. This will bring you back into alignment with your inner GPS so it can create your route. When you focus on the feelings you want, you allow your inner GPS to take you to the experiences that line up with those feelings.
3. Appreciate your present circumstances
Enlist a great appreciative energy for your present circumstances. Your internal GPS helps you get to where you want to go in the shortest time. When you appreciate your current circumstances it’s like appreciating you have a car, or legs to take you, or a bus to catch. If you don’t appreciate or use the resources that you already have, you will stop short of asking your GPS for directions.
4. Do what you can
You have to get in the car and turn it on, or be prepared to start walking, or catch a lift, or find a bus, if that’s all you have access to. You may feel like your legs aren’t enough, or your public transport will let you down, or you don’t trust your car to do the journey. This allows your present circumstances to get in the way of what you want.
5. What delays your journey
Every time you complain or think “I don’t have what I need” or upset yourself with “I don’t have what others have,” it only stops you from turning on your internal GPS and starting your own wonderful journey.
6. You won’t understand your GPS fully.
You won’t understand why you are taking a different route to what you preferred. But your internal GPS has a much bigger picture than you. It sees the road blocks up ahead and makes a detour so you to avoid something you can’t control. It can help you avoid paying tolls. It does this automatically.
7. Trust your GPS
Trust that your GPS is always giving you vital information and stay alert to it. Even though you don’t really understand why or how its happening don’t worry about that. You wouldn’t stop using your phone just because you don’t totally understand how it works. You simply know it works.
8. Detours and delays
In the same way your internal GPS will take you down roads that seem a waste of time and don’t lead directly to where you want to go, but nevertheless they are necessary for you to reach your destination.
9. Complain or enjoy the ride
You can either complain about the detour and how much time it wasted or you can enjoy the ride and the experience and the new scenery, and make the best of it.
10. Place yourself where your internal GPS can reach you.
If you are outside of coverage it can’t help you. As the definition says: A GPS has to have an unobstructed line-of-site. So practice always checking that your internal GPS is switched on and that you have coverage.
This means being ready to notice when you are off-line and not following your GPS. You do this by always checking how you are feeling. If you are feeling stuck or unmotivated, you have turned off your GPS or have gone out of coverage. To be able to turn it back on simply follow the instructions in Number One on this list!
11. Put in your planned itinerary but don’t expect everything to be perfect!
Place every preconceived idea you have about how this trip is going to go into your GPS and wait for feedback. You do this by putting in the things you want to stop at or find on the way e.g. In your car’s GPS you might look for nearest petrol, or a place to stop and eat.
When you ask for these things your GPS will take to there by the most direct route but it may take longer than you expected. This may mean that your ultimate destination takes longer to get to.
You might place the following searches in your internal GPS. Feeling a need for power (petrol) or owning material possessions (things you can purchase on the way) or something to nourish you (food and drink, company). If you don’t need any if these things, you will get to your destination much more quickly. BUT you may be tired, hungry and not in good form when you get there, which defeats the purpose (See Number 1 again).
12. What allows your inner GPS to work
If you understand that number 1 on this list is foundational for your inner GPS to work, you might decide it’s a waste time getting petrol or lining up and sitting in a crowded cafe when all you really want to do is get to your wonderful destination as soon as possible. But, if you don’t mind when or how you get to your destination, then these stops in your life are perfectly in line with your personal desires. And that is what its all about.
13. How our journey never ends
If you can sit in the petrol station cafe and truly enjoy the experience of being there, you have ‘already arrived’ and so it is with every detour or pit stop you make on the way in your life. And that’s because, actually, all of our destinations are only pit-stops. They never are our final destination. We will always choose to go somewhere else afterwards
14. Your GPS will surprise you
Prepare to be surprised by your GPS. You may think that the journey and destination will look like this, but actually it looks like that. You thought the journey would be short and easy, but there were a lot of detours and traffic jams.
15. What does destination have to do with it?
So get clear that your journey in life with your inner GPS is not about the destination you once thought was important, but about the feelings you have at any point along the way. Your feelings are your general position reminder.
16. You know you are on track when …
You are either on track with your GPS, which means you are trusting the General Operating Device (G.O.D) which created your G.P.S (General Positioning System) You know that its a lot more clever than you are at this job.
17. You don’t need to worry about your journey
Your GPS doesn’t need you to be continually worried about the journey for it to work! Once you’ve programmed it, simply let it do its job, relax and follow its instructions. It will always correct you to get you back on track to where you want to go. This great system allows you to enjoy the trip instead of being anxious all the time about how you will get there.
18. Difficult and confusing signals
No more, “have I just missed a vital turn?” or “Which turn do I take?” or “Will I have to turn back and do I have enough petrol for that?” In the same way, your internal GPS allows you to trust in the system that helps you negotiate difficult or confusing signals.
19. You can stay comfortable no matter what
You can get comfortable with whatever turns up on your journey, be it an accident, a wonderful view, road-kill, a gentle smile from your friend or fun with the loved on with you on your journey. Or maybe there will be a huge detour through some really messy part of town. Instead of worrying, you simply put some great music on and feel glad that you aren’t lost in this part of town, knowing it too will pass.
20. Every journey starts with one step or putting your car in gear
Every journey starts with putting your car in gear and taking your foot off the brake. When you do this you engage the magical mechanical means of the car to move you forward, or backwards.
21. We don’t learn how to drive overnight
Driving a car takes skill and we don’t learn to drive overnight. We know that a child should never have to drive one. Driving is for those who are mature enough to realise they have a powerful planetary instrument at their disposal.
Your personal vehicle, (which is your physical body) is able to get you to places of wonder and delight. But your car can also cause destruction and mayhem if you don’t know how to drive, or you don’t know or respect the rules of the road. That is why children are not permitted to drive and need adults to help them get to where they want to go.
22. The privilege of driving
It is a huge privilege to drive your personal body through time and space. You can make it the most enjoyable trip ever. But if you don’t appreciate your vehicle, you won’t care if you hit others with it, or if you dent or crash your own.
If you think that your car is not important you won’t take care of it. And of course, a vehicle that doesn’t get maintained breaks down. And so it is with our personal vehicle of our spirit – our bodies.
23. Protect and value your vehicle
When you think of your body like your vehicle for your spirit, and know it’s value and the privelidge you have in driving it, you will take care of it, protect it and value it.
You won’t let other people drive your car unless you trust them and you know they won’t abuse the privelidge.
24. Keep your vehicle running smoothly
When you think of your body in this way you will naturally look after it, clean it and put oil and water in it to keep it running smoothly. You wouldn’t put diesel in a petrol car because you know this will wreck it. So why would you put food in your personal vehicle that you know will destroy it, or at least make it run very badly.
25. Being attached to your vehicle
When you are clear that this personal vehicle is just that, a vehicle for your spirit, you still get very attached to your vehicle, but you don’t pretend it will last forever. Instead you do what you can to keep it going well and enjoy the immense benefits it gives you.
You don’t complain and say I wish I had another car because to do so is pointless. The car was your choice to start with and until you decide to trade it in for another, it is yours. So until you die you will have this personal vehicle.
26. When this vehicle has done its job
Finally when your vehicle is scrapped, you will go to the car sales and choose another. You will feel sad to leave your car behind that gave you so many great journeys and experiences and allowed you to have fun with your family and friends and loved ones.
But you will know that it’s done it’s job now and you will look forward to the new car you are planning to buy in your next life.
Or maybe you’ll decide not to get a car at all, but instead decide to journey in the sky like an aeroplane, being more often in space than on earth, or as a space ship that doesn’t come back down to earth. Or you may become like the GPS satellite itself, beaming down to earth to help others find their way.
